Call it professional karma, but those who volunteer with the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association say they find it so vaulable and personally rewarding, they keep stepping up to do more.
Key Equipment Finance's Jennifer Martin, vice president, vendor program development and operational controls, is one of those volunteers. She was recently featured in an article in Equipment Leasing & Finance magazine on the topic of getting more from the volunteering investment.
Martin started volunteering with ELFA to expand her skills in public speaking and general leadership.
"Having been with Key Eqiupment Finance for over 20 years, I don't get a lot of opportunities in my own organization to speak to people I don't know," she said, "and I had a real interest in building my public-speaking capability."
She has since had several speaking and facilitation opportunities, including speaking at the Operations & Technology Conference.
These events have increased her confidence and enabled her to find her own interactive style engaging an audience. She is now focusing on bringing more traction around women in leasing.
