The internet and social media have transformed the way prospective employees find and research career opportunities, while companies use these forums to vet and engage with potential candidates.

Equipment finance companies seeking the right candidates must have a keen understanding of digital media, and use the latest platforms to communicate their culture effectively, writes Pamela Riley, human resources business partner for Key Equipment Finance, in the National Equipment Finance Association's Newsline.

When it comes to social media, not all channels are created equally in terms of recruiting value. The article went on to consider four variables when determining which social media channels to utilize for various recruiting needs.

  • How are people using this channel?
  • What is the budget?
  • Do you have meaningful content?
  • Put yourself in their shoes.

Although online recruiting tools can be highly effective, it's important to remember the basics, including the tried-and-true methods of finding and connecting with qualified job candidates, such as person-to-person conversations.
